Psalm 91:1

"You who dwell in the shadow of Elyon, spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai." 

Let's first define the keywords in this verse and the Hebrew word that is used:

1. dwell (yashab, 3427) - Means to sit, stay, abide. In other words, if we substitute the word dwell for abiding, I would say: "You who abide ..." What is the psalmist abiding by? Let's look at the next keyword.
2. shadow, in other versions it says shelter (cether, 5643) - It means secret place, cover,  refuge, hiding place, protection, in private. It is in the secret place, in private, that God calls us to be. In Matthew 6:6 it says: "But you, when you pray, enter your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret." In this season God has taken away the external noise, so that we can enter the secret place. But why is He insisting on this? He wants to give us something, but we can only get it if we enter that place. This word comes from the root "cathar" (5641) which means to hide, to hide carefully, to be   absent, to stay close, surely, protection, defense (as guard, custodian). Being absent, it is as if we know that everything is in chaos around us, but we are not present in the chaos. In other words, it is not affecting us, because our confidence is not in the circumstances, but in Yehovah. In Psalms 27: 5 it says: "Because He hid me in His Tabernacle on the day of my distress, He sheltered me in the secret of His Tabernacle, He set me high on a rock." Where did God hide the psalmist? IN HIS TABERNACLE! In the time of Moses, in the Tent of Meeting, a Tabernacle was raised that was where the Ark of the Testimony was found. Inside the Ark of the Testimony were the tables of the testimony that is nothing other than the Torah, the instructions that the people should follow and that today we must follow. When Yeshua became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14), He engraved each of the instructions into the hearts of those who returned to his path. Every time we return to Yeshua, He engraves the Torah on our hearts for us to obey. So he sent us the Holy Spirit to help us remember what is engraved within us.
3. you spend your nights, you live, in other versions it says will dwell (luwn 3885) - it means to stay permanently, to abide. Abiding means to tolerate, respect or consent to something. Comply with a certain order or requirement. Accept to do what they tell you. When we remain permanently in your presence, we abide by your instructions without excuse.
4. shade, shelter (tsel 6738) - means defense and comes from the root “tsale” (6751) that gives the idea or is related to floating on something. Genesis 1:2 comes to mind which says that the Spirit of Yehovah moved on the surface of the waters. This word, in turn, comes from the primitive root "tsalal" (6749) which means correctly, to establish by an undulating movement.

In short, when we sit in the secret place, we are transformed. This transformation leads us to want to remain permanently in his presence. It is there, under his covering, that we find its instructions for our life, and we are willing to abide by those instructions. When we accept Yeshua as our Savior, Redeemer, his instructions are automatically engraved in our hearts. His presence keeps us floating on any circumstance. Obedience to his instructions is what will open or close the blessings described in the rest of the verse. We will be able to recite this psalm daily, specifically verses 2-13, but if we don't do what verse 1 says, we are wasting time. We are in the best season to put this verse into practice. And listen when Yehovah tells each of us: “You who remain constantly in my presence, and know who I am, and trust me, you will be protected from everything that happens in this world. Because you remain in me, no plague will touch your dwelling. ” You will wonder why the plague cannot touch your dwelling. Because your dwelling place is the presence of Yehovah, your dwelling place is in His Tabernacle.
